What started as a joke became serious competition for six Blenheim girls waiting for opportunity to encourage England in Sevens rugby next year.
Alice load, Gemma Adams, Jade Adams, Bass Mel, Schultz Kirstie and Catherine McGrath were motivated to participate in cheerleading for the chance to win $ 7,000 and free tickets to the Rugby Sevens, where they want to encourage many country of origin of women young people in England.
"We have seen [the film] Bring It On and I thought it would be fun to start cheerleading," said team member of Miss Burden.
A few days later, they saw an advertisement for a cheerleading competition in search for the Rugby Sevens.
"We have our first concert girls," joked Miss charge with others.
After further discussion the girls decided the prices were very little use as a joke about the competition.
They called the Lady Hot Rods and began practicing.
Miss Adams, a ballet teacher, played a key role in the routine group choreography.
"We danced in the Pitbull Hotel Motel. As soon as we heard the song I knew it was one," said Ms. Burden. "Most of us [the cheerleaders] are English, therefore, are encouraging for England."
Unlike typical movie cheerleaders, girls do not fight in costume and makeup, but it is difficult to adapt to rehearse with their busy work schedules.
"If we win, we'll probably use the money for college," said Ms. Burden.
"I am very nervous because we were too late to post the video on the site, so teams that already have many votes."
