Cheerleaders
The OU Cheer Squads support the athletics teams at the University of Oklahoma by generating crowd enthusiasm. The OU Cheerleaders also represent the university at a variety of alumni, civic, and charitable events.
The University of Oklahoma cheerleaders are representatives of the University and should display a positive and courteous manner at all times. The Cheer Program is under the athletic department and is managed by the Spirit Coordinator.
The OU Large Coed squad consists of a maximum of nine (9) males and nine (9) females. The OU Small Coed Squad consists of a maximum of 20 athletes, with a minimum of 12 females.
Auditions
You are evaluated on how much POTENTIAL you have to become a collegiate cheerleader and to contribute to our team.
Basic Requirements:
• Incoming freshmen ARE eligible to tryout.
• Transfer students with at minimum 2.0GPA are eligible to tryout.
• Current OU student must be enrolled full-time (12 hours) to be eligible to tryout.
• Tryout packet must be submitted at the first-round audition. $20 Fee must be submitted at each round of the audition.
• Although you may not be admitted to the University at the time of your private audition, you must show proof of admission, i.e. student ID or admission letter, to attend the final call-backs.
• Final call-backs are by invitation only (invitations are extended by Coach Karie Chard, or squad captains).
• There is NOT a point system. The coach makes the final team selection, after advisement from current or former captains.
