The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders have served as entertainers on the sidelines of the Buccaneers’ home games for over 30 years and have evolved into one of the premier cheerleading teams in the NFL. The team is an integral part of the game day experience and community outreach for the organization. The ladies who make up this elite squad have a combination of beauty, talent, intelligence, poise, and dynamic personalities.
Previously known as the SwashBucklers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleaders completed a transformation in 1999, along with the rest of the organization. The name was changed to forge a stronger association with the football team which, since its purchase by Malcolm Glazer in 1995, the introduction of new colors and logos in 1997 and the opening of Raymond James Stadium in 1998, had become one of the NFL's strongest and most recognized franchises.
Every year, 28-34 extraordinary women are selected to represent the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of hundreds of candidates. These talented women include athletes, educators, business professionals, full-time students, and dedicated mothers. As a Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleader, the ladies are consistently busy rehearsing, performing, and volunteering for community events and appearances. The squad makes approximately 300 community appearances every year for both non-profit organizations and corporate events. The ladies are actively involved in the community relations activities and programs generated by the organization. Additionally, the team is invited to serve as ambassadors for the NFL across the country and overseas on various military tours, bringing smiles to the men and women who valiantly serve the United States.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders seek to provide support for their team, entertainment for the fans, and to represent the organization with class and pride in the Tampa Bay community. Each cheerleader strives to perform to the best of her ability, sets high standards, and works to leave a legacy that will enhance the organization and strengthen the reputation of the uniform. The ladies must re-audition each year to earn a spot on the highly coveted team. After multiple rounds of auditions, the select few are invited to wear the uniform and participate as a Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleader.
The talented women of this truly elite squad are dedicated professionals and ambassadors for the team. To be a part of the group is a tremendous accomplishment. As well, the ladies gain rewarding, lifetime experiences. They are like no other group…they are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders.
